William Bovee Dods
William Bovee Dods was born on 2 June 1829 in Union, Maine, the son of John Bovee Dods, who was also a doctor, and Mercy Hodsdon. Dods received a medical degree from the University of Tennessee around 1860 and was an assistant surgeon in the Civil War. Before moving to Tooele, Utah Territory, in the early 1870s, he lived in San Francisco, California. By 1870 he had married Lotta. After she died, he married Emily Atkin Warburton on 8 May 1879 in Tooele. The couple had five sons. Possibly the first practicing physician in Tooele, Dods was well loved by the town’s citizens. He died on 30 September 1895.[1]
