Samuel Francis Lee was born on 25 July 1834 to Alfred Lee and Elizabeth LaFlesh in Liberty, Missouri. He migrated with his family in 1849 to what would become Utah Territory and settled in Tooele in 1851. On 18 January 1853, he married Ann White. Lee was a cooper and a blacksmith and also served as commissioner, city councilman, and mayor of Tooele. He died on 31 May 1894.[1]
