Robert S. Scott was born in Denny, Sterlingshire, Scotland to William Scott and Catherine Graham on 8 May 1842. After the death of his first wife, Susan Mcelman, he married Mary Catherine Leonard Pope on 20 January 1872 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It is unclear when he migrated to Tooele, Utah Territory, but he was there by 1880. Scott worked as a stone mason and manufactured headstones for the Tooele cemetery. He died on 3 August 1903 in Tooele.[1]
