Robert Kennedy McKendrick was born on 26 August 1828 in Antrim County, Ireland, to James McKendrick and Anne Kennedy. He married Elizabeth Henderson on 19 April 1850. He moved with his family to Utah Territory in 1859, locating in Tooele. McKendrick owned the McKendrick Hotel in Tooele, and also opened the first butcher shop in the city. He died on 18 December 1892 in Tooele.[1]
