Lewis Bowen

24 May 1815–20 July 1894

Lewis Bowen was born on 24 May 1815 in Blaenavon, Monmouth, Wales, to David Bowen and Margaret Richards. He married Mary Ann Harris on 28 September 1836 and joined the church on 18 September 1852. He moved to Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, in 1863 and then relocated to Tooele, Utah Territory, in 1866. After Mary Ann’s death in 1878, he married Jane Gillette Crosland Dew. Bowen led the Tooele choir for eighteen years; he was also a schoolteacher and a farmer. He died on 20 July 1894 in Tooele.[1]
