Israel Bennion

2 June 1860 — 1 August 1944

Israel Bennion was born to John Bennion and Esther Ann Birch on 2 June 1860 in Taylorsville, Utah Territory. When he was very young, his parents took him to Rush Valley, Utah Territory. His family moved to Nevada in 1868 and then returned to Rush Valley in 1875. Bennion located in Vernon, Utah Territory, where he raised livestock. He departed on a mission to the Southern States Mission in 1883 but was released early after contracting malaria. On 20 February 1888, Bennion married Matilda Pehrson. He served for fifteen years as the bishop of the Vernon Ward and was a member of the Tooele County Board of Education. He also served as a patriarch in the Tooele Stake. Bennion died on 1 August 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah.[1]
