Charles L. Anderson was born on 11 April 1846 in Viken, Sweden, to Anders and Kajsa Anderson. He moved to Utah Territory with his family in 1862. He was a farmer and stock raiser, and he also had interests in mining. On 16 March 1867, he married Ellen Britta Akerberg, and they had eight children. He was active in civic affairs, serving as both a city councilman in Grantsville, Utah Territory, and as mayor of the town. He also served as a representative in the Utah legislature and was in the Tooele Stake presidency for twenty years. Anderson died on 10 December 1909 and was buried in Grantsville.[1]
