Alonzo Gowans

7 December 1869–27 November 1947

Alonzo Gowans was born to Hugh S. Gowans and Betsy Ann Gowans on 7 December 1869 in Tooele, Utah Territory. He served as a missionary in the Southern States Mission in 1895–1896. On 15 November 1899, he married Deseret Shimmin Leaver. After graduating from Northern Illinois College in Chicago with a Doctor of Optics, he practiced medicine in Tooele; he also served as a city policeman, deputy sheriff, juvenile judge, city judge, and justice of the peace. Gowans died on 27 November 1947 in Tooele.[1]
