Abraham Fairbanks Doremus was George F. Richards’s cousin-in-law. He was born on 24 May 1849 to Henry I. Doremus and Harriett Fairbanks in Salt Lake City, unincorporated territory. He was married to Pauline Richards. Doremus was an engineer who, among other things, was the state engineer of Utah and chairman of the Board of Public Works. He owned the ranch in Tooele, Utah, that George F. Richards managed from 1888–1896. Doremus died on 10 May 1933 in Salt Lake City.
