Clarissa Maria Young Dougall, Ri, Ria Young, Maria Young, Ria Dougall, Clara Maria Young

Born 10 Dec. 1849 in Salt Lake City.1 Daughter of Brigham Young and Clarissa Ross.2 Raised by her aunt Zina Diantha Huntington Young after Ross’s death in 1858.3 Married William Bernard Dougall, 1 June 1868, in Salt Lake City; five children.4 Founding member of the Young Ladies’ Department of the Ladies’ Cooperative Retrenchment Association, Nov. 1869; appointed counselor to her sister, Ella Young Empey.5 Served as a counselor in the Salt Lake City Seventeenth Ward Young Ladies’ Mutual Improvement Association (YLMIA), 1877–1880; served as president, 1880–1883.6 Served as first counselor in the Salt Lake Stake YLMIA and as a counselor in the Seventeenth Ward’s Primary Association.7 Served as first counselor on the YLMIA general board, 1887–1904.8 Delegate to the National Woman Suffrage Association meeting in Washington, DC with Sarah M. Kimball, EBW, and others, 1895.9 Founding member of the Utah chapter of the Society of the Daughters of the Revolution, 1899; served as chaplain.10 Founding member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, 11 Apr. 1901; served as counselor to President Annie Taylor Hyde.11 Died 30 Apr. 1935 in Salt Lake City.12
