1 Born at Hopkinton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; son of Abigail (Nabby) Howe and John Young. 2 Married Theodocia Kimball, 1813; participated in plural marriage. 3 Baptized, 1833. 4 Served a mission in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, 1834–1836. 5 Moved to Kirtland, Geauga County, Ohio, 1834; served as president of the Kirtland Stake. 6 Migrated to the Salt Lake Valley, 1847. 7 Served as president of the high priests quorum, 1849–1870. 8 Appointed presiding patriarch of the church, 1853. 9 Died at Salt Lake City. 10 (See Document 2.5)
