James Emmett

22 February 1803 — 28 December 1852

Born in Boone County, Kentucky; son of Elizabeth Trowbridge and Silas Emmett. Married Phebe Jane Simpson, 1823. Baptized, 1831. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois, by December 1843. Admitted to the Council of Fifty, 1844. Led an advance party of Latter-day Saint settlers from Nauvoo to the vicinity of present-day Vermillion, Clay County, South Dakota, 1845–1846. Resided in Tuolumne County, California, by 1850. Died at San Bernardino, Los Angeles County, California. 1 (See Document 1.8)
