Titus Coan

1801– 1882

Born in Killingworth, Connecticut; graduated from Auburn Theological Seminary, Massachusetts, in 1833; sailed to Hawai‘i with his wife, Fidelia, in 1834, members of seventh company of ABCFM missionaries; stationed at Hilo, Hawai‘i, 1835–53; left ABCFM service in 1853; remained in Hilo as pastor of Haili church until his death; visited Salt Lake City in 1870.
