Sarah Melissa Granger Kimball

Sister of Lafayette Granger; born in Phelps, New York; moved with family to Wayne County, New York, where all were baptized shortly after Church was organized; married Hiram Kimball in 1840 while living in Nauvoo, Illinois; immigrated to Salt Lake City with her husband and their two children by 1851; principal of Fourteenth Ward School, where Elizabeth Hoagland taught; served as president of the Fifteenth Ward Relief Society and later in the general Relief Society organization as both secretary and counselor; served as president of Utah Suffrage Association; widowed when her husband died at sea in 1863 while en route to fulfill mission in Hawai‘i; died in Salt Lake City.
