Samuel Harvey Wollerton Riter

1835– 1908

Son of Rebecca Dilworth Riter; born in Chester County, Pennsylvania; immigrated to Utah with family in 1847; reportedly called on mission to Hawai‘i in 1854, although his name does not appear on the published list of those who were issued mission calls at the time; left Utah for mission to eastern U.S., 1857; returned in 1858 following outbreak of Utah War; helped establish Latter-day Saint settlements along the Muddy River in present-day Nevada in 1867; moved to Logan, Utah, in 1892; lived there until his death.
