John Quayle

1833– 1853

Born in Douglas, Isle of Man; saw his parents converted to the Church by John Taylor; emigrated with his family to U.S. in 1841; traveled to Salt Lake Valley in 1847 in company of which GQC was a member; went to the California gold fields in 1849; mined along Middle Fork of American River, including at Slap Jack Bar; operated a store before returning to Utah in 1851; killed along with John Dixon in an Indian attack in which John Hoagland was wounded.
