Graduate of Lahainaluna Seminary; served as clerk for House of Nobles during 1846 and 1848 legislative sessions; elected to Hawaiian House of Representatives in 1849; served several terms as a member of that body; lawyer and judge residing in Waikiki; hosted Latter-day Saint missionaries at his house and arranged for them to obtain housing in Kane‘ohe, O‘ahu, in 1851; became member of Kamehameha IV’s Privy Council in 1854.
