Hakaleleponi Kapakuhaili Kalama

1817– 1870

Born near Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i; married Kamehameha III in February 1837; reigned as queen until her husband’s death in 1854; developed extensive land holdings, including a tract on windward O‘ahu near La‘ie, where she hoped to build a sugar plantation.
