Native of Sweden; carpenter by trade; baptized in May 1852 at Kaneohe, O‘ahu; married to native Hawaiian who died prior to his joining the Church; fathered two sons; labored as missionary on Big Island, October 1853–July 1855; following his release, planned to join his son Charlie in San Bernardino, California; instead moved to Maui, where he worked as a carpenter in February 1857.
