Ordained elder on O‘ahu in July 1853; member of king’s guard; seriously injured by Portuguese sailor in dispute over a coat in December 1853; his recovery attributed to a priesthood blessing; accompanied GQC on tour of O‘ahu in March 1854; hosted two newly arrived Latter-day Saint missionaries at his home near Honolulu in October 1856 while they learned the language.
