Angus Munn Cannon

Younger brother of GQC; born in Liverpool, England; son of George and Ann Cannon; lost his mother while family was en route to U.S. in 1842; following death of his father in 1844, raised by sister Mary Alice and her husband, Charles Lambert, along with sister Leonora and brother David; reached Salt Lake Valley in October 1849, shortly after GQC left on mission to California; helped settle Parowan, Utah, in 1851; following return to Salt Lake City, was employed by the Deseret News; served mission to eastern U.S., 1854–58, during which he assisted John Taylor in publishing the Mormon in New York City; called to southern Utah in 1861 to “Cotton Mission”; helped establish town of St. George, Utah, of which he was first mayor; returned to Salt Lake City in 1867; filled mission to eastern U.S., 1874; served as president of Salt Lake Stake, 1876–1904; died in Salt Lake City.
