William Cornell Hendrie

24 February 1846–20 June 1911

Born 24 Feb. 1846 at Marietta, Washington Co., Ohio.[1] Son of Charles Hendrie and Mary Ann Beard.[2] Moved to Iowa, 1845.[3] Graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 1860.[4] Established and ran a branch of the family business of selling mining machinery in Salt Lake City, 1872–1877.[5] Frequent guest in EBW’s home.[6] Engaged in private banking business, 1874, in San Francisco.[7] Established a mining machinery business with his brother, 1875, in Denver.[8] Opened an agency for the purchase and sale of mining machinery, 1884, in New York City.[9] Married Caroline Lockwood Barlow, 26 Oct. 1887, in Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York.[10] Board member, chair, and managing director for the Consolidated Stock and Mining Board and its clearinghouse, 1885–1888.[11] Moved to Spokane, Spokane Co., Washington, 1889.[12] Returned to Brooklyn, 1894.[13] Died 20 June 1911 at Brooklyn.[14]
