Susan Taylor

Born 10 June 1858 in Belfast, Co. Antrim, Ireland.[1] Daughter of James Taylor.[2] Educated at Queen’s University, in Belfast.[3] Graduated from Victoria College, in Belfast.[4] Taught at Victoria College until her marriage.[5] Married Frederick William D’Evelyn, 25 Mar. 1887, in Belfast; two children.[6] Immigrated to San Francisco, 1887.[7] Active in San Francisco civic affairs, 1887–1892.[8] Frequent contributor to newspapers and magazines under the pseudonym Kate McBride.[9] EBW published an announcement of one of her articles being published in a prominent magazine, 1891.[10] EBW published an announcement of her election to office in the Pacific Coast Women’s Press Association (PCWPA), 1891.[11] Attended a PCWPA convention and reception in San Francisco with EBW; EBW visited her home, 1892.[12] Continued corresponding with EBW following EBW’s visit to San Francisco, 1892.[13] Died 17 July 1892 in San Francisco.[14]
