Mary Wride

23 May 1831–14 December 1905

Born 23 Dec. 1831 in Llantrisant, Glamorgan, Wales.[1] Daughter of Danson Wride and Ann Davies.[2]  Baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 19 Mar. 1857.[3] Married David John, 8 Feb. 1860, in Cardiff, Glamorgan; nine children.[4] Emigrated from Liverpool, Lancashire, England, aboard the Manchester, arriving in New York City 14 May 1861.[5] Migrated to the Salt Lake Valley with the Homer Duncan pioneer company; her infant daughter, Annie, died on the trail, 20 Aug. 1861; arrived 13 Sept. 1861.[6] Settled in Provo, Utah Co., Utah Territory.[7] President of the Utah Stake Relief Society, 1884–1905; EBW often visited for Relief Society conferences and meetings.[8] Active in the Woman Suffrage Association of Utah Co. in her role as stake Relief Society president.[9] Agent for the Woman’s Exponent in Provo.[10] Corresponded regularly with EBW.[11] Died 14 Dec. 1905 in Provo.[12]
