Margaret Cannon

3 April 1886–3 December 1977

Born 3 Apr. 1886 at Salt Lake City.[1] Daughter of John Quayle Cannon and Elizabeth Ann Wells.[2] Granddaughter of EBW.[3] Baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by John Q. Cannon, 3 Apr. 1894.[4] Trained as a nurse and passed boards to practice nursing, 1901–1907.[5] Married David Hyrum Clayton Jr., 22 June 1910, in Salt Lake City; nine children.[6] Attended and presented at the Daughters of Utah Pioneers celebration of EBW’s birthday, 24 Feb. 1912.[7] Attended Daniel H. Cannon’s engagement party with EBW, 24 Jan. 1915.[8] Elected to the executive committee of the Women’s Democratic Club of Utah, 6 Jan. 1915.[9] Member of the Pioneer Stake Relief Society board over literacy, 1928–1930.[10] President of the Cannon Ward Relief Society, 1930–1935, 1937–1942.[11] Charter member of the Sarah Jenne Cannon Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp, 1937–1952.[12] Worked as a caterer and at the West High School cafeteria.[13] President of the Utah Parent Teachers Association for Riley Elementary School; vice president of Edison Elementary and Jordan Junior High School.[14] Employed at Church offices in the Membership and Records Department, 1945.[15] Contributed to the Cannon Family Treasury and belonged to the Cannon Century Club, 1967.[16] Died 3 Dec. 1977 in Salt Lake City.[17]
