Lorin Farr

27 July 1820–12 January 1909

Born 27 July 1820 in Waterford, Caledonia Co., Vermont.[1] Son of Winslow Farr Sr. and Olive Hovey Freeman.[2] Baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Lyman Johnson, May 1833.[3] Served missions in the northern U.S., 1842, and the eastern U.S., 1843.[4] Married Nancy Bailey Chase, 1 Jan. 1845, in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois.[5] Migrated to the Salt Lake Valley with the Ira Eldredge and Daniel Spencer pioneer company, arriving 19 Sept. 1847.[6] President of the branch of the church in Weber Co., Utah Territory, 1851; president of the Weber Stake, 1851.[7] Mayor of Ogden, Weber Co., 1851–1870, 1877–1878.[8] Member of the Utah territorial legislature, 1852–1884.[9] Served a mission to England, Oct. 1870–Sept. 1871.[10] Met with EBW in her office, 26 May 1875.[11] Administered to Louie Wells while in San Francisco, 25 Feb. 1887.[12] Served in meetings attended by EBW, 1900–1908.[13] Died 12 Jan. 1909 in Ogden.[14] EBW reminisced about his life, 1909.[15]
