Lillie R. Moore

11 September 1864–7 January 1924

Born 11 Sept. 1864 in Mogadore, Springfield Township, Summit Co., Ohio.[1] Daughter of Milton Moore and Lucia Richards.[2] Moved to Akron, Summit Co., with her family and graduated from Buchtel College (later the University of Akron), June 1886.[3] Taught at Akron High School, 1886–1889; professor in the preparatory school, Sept. 1889–1891.[4] Married James D. Pardee, 27 July 1891, in Summit Co.; one child.[5] Moved to Salt Lake City, July 1891.[6] Spoke in favor of women’s suffrage before the suffrage committee of the Utah constitutional convention, 19 Feb. 1895.[7] Joined the Salt Lake Woman’s Club, serving as club president, 1895; represented the club at the State Federation of Woman’s Clubs, May 1895.[8] Secretary of the Utah Woman’s Republican League; secretary of the Republican State Central Committee, 1895.[9] Interacted many times with EBW, 1895–1896; visited with EBW during a trip to Utah, 1904.[10] Nominated to the Utah Senate and ran with EBW; withdrew due to the Supreme Court ruling out women’s right to vote; secretary of the Utah Senate, Jan. 1896.[11] Granted divorce, 16 Dec. 1898, in Stark Co., Ohio.[12] President of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, 1900–1901, in Canton, Stark Co.[13] Secretary of the Inter-Municipal Committee on Household Research, 1905, in New York City.[14] Taught in Cleveland, 1909–1914.[15] Moved to San Diego, by 1916.[16] Died 7 Jan. 1924 in San Diego.[17]
