Born 25 October 1860 near Postville, Clayton County, Iowa.[1] Son of Joseph Booth and Caroline Bishop.[2] Admitted to the Iowa bar, 1885; attorney in Carson, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, 1885–1888.[3] Editor and publisher of the Carson Critic, 1885–1887, and publisher of the Pottawattamie School Journal, in Carson.[4] Married first Carrie M. Robinson, 24 August 1886, at Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa.[5] Wife died, 30 December 1887, at Carson.[6] Moved to Salt Lake City, 1888; admitted to the Utah territorial bar, 1889.[7] Married second Lillian B. Redhead, 28 May 1889, at Postville.[8] Elected to the final Utah territorial legislature, 1894.[9] Addressed a Republican rally in South Cottonwood, Salt Lake County, Utah Territory, with Emmeline B. Wells, 23 September 1895.[10] Emmeline B. Wells wrote to him, 6 November 1895.[11] Elected to represent District 6 in the first Utah Senate, 1896.[12] President of the Intermountain Republican newspaper, 1905–1909; paper merged with the Salt Lake Herald to become the Herald-Republican, 1909.[13] Appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt as United States district attorney for Utah, 1906; reappointed by President William Howard Taft, 1910.[14] Removed from office after President Woodrow Wilson was elected, 1913.[15] Appointed judge advocate general for Utah, 1909.[16] Moved to Los Angeles, where he was admitted to the bar, 1922.[17] Died 9 July 1940 in Los Angeles.[18]
