Corrine Marie Tuckerman

12 June 1856–11 August 1931

Born 12 June 1856 at Orwell, Ashtabula Co., Ohio.[1] Daughter of Jacob Tuckerman and Elizabeth Ellenwood.[2] Graduated from the Grand River Institute; attended Mount Holyoke Seminary; and was the first student to enter Smith College, 1875–1877.[3] Married Clarence Emir Allen, 29 Nov. 1877, at Austinburg, Ashtabula Co.; seven children.[4] Moved to Salt Lake City, by 1882.[5] Participated in the Utah Woman’s Silk Association with EBW, 1893–1895.[6] Chair of the Territorial Committee on Literature; served with EBW, 1893–1895.[7] President of the Ladies Literary Society, 1895–1896.[8] Executive committee member of the Republican Women’s Group, 1895.[9] Corresponding secretary and later president of the Utah Mothers’ Congress, 1898–1913.[10] Chair of the Utah branch of the George Washington Memorial Association, 1898–1899.[11] State regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, 1899.[12] Served as president of the Federation of Women’s Clubs; served in the presidency of the Women’s Non-Partisan Bryan’s Club.[13] Died 11 Aug. 1931 in La Mesa, San Diego Co., California.[14]
